The 10x Sessions - CleanTech

With so much movement in the industry and so many great minds living in and around Kuala Lumpur, it seemed silly that there wasn't a regular entrepreneurs focused meet-up group that is around networking and thought leaders.

The 10x Sessions was formed to fill this void. Once a month, we'll bring together experts and enthusiasts to share insights, tips and a drink on a particular topic related to startups.

Much has been discussed recently of the need for Malaysia to evolve its energy industry. CleanTech is a word that has been discussed at many tables from government to industry. But what does this mean?

This month, we are bringing together the brightest minds behind the CleanTech industry in Kuala Lumpur.

Matthieu Mertens
Biji-Biji Initiatives

After graduating in electronic engineering, I worked two years as a software engineer for a big company. Looking for an unconventional lifestyle, I quit my job to travel the world and find my way. For two years, I visited different countries and continents such as Europe, South East Asia, South pacific and Australia. I finally ended up in Malaysia where I rented a room with the founders of the Biji-biji Initiative. Seduced by the concepts and the values they were promoting, I quickly joined the project. The various experiences in F&B and volunteering I gain while traveling and my engineering background helped me to adapt and overcome the challenges of setting up a social enterprise. After four years of partnership, I am now heading the TECH department of the Initiative. We are currently developing alternative energy solutions, smart recycling systems, promoting sustainability through art and workshops.
